The Practice
The Practice consists of three Principals, plus two
GP assistant sessions per week. The Practice
population is approximately 4,150, mainly from
Aldeburgh but with a fair number from the
surrounding villages. There is also a large
proportion of elderly patients.
As well as the Practice work, we look after our own
patients in the Aldeburgh Hospital and also those
under the care of the Geriatric Department. The
Aldeburgh Hospital has 16 GP beds, shared with the
Leiston Practice, and 29 frail elderly
rehabilitation beds.
The Surgery is purpose-built in a converted barn
giving a nice atmosphere. We are well equipped and
fully computerised, using Isoft Synergy with full
internet access and e-mail for all doctors.
The Training
The training post in Aldeburgh is run in conjunction
with the Ipswich Scheme, with one day spent on the
day-release course. The Registrar in Aldeburgh would
have his/her own room and would normally spend three
and a half days in the Practice, with Wednesday
afternoons off.
