The Practice
The practice has five full time and two half time
doctors with a list size of over 10,000 patients. We
work in a modern, spacious, town centre medical
centre. The building is shared with another
practice, Drs Ben Solway & Sally Whale, who also
offer a trainee rotation. The doctors work closely
with practice nurses, health care assistants,
attached district nurses and the reception and
administrative teams.
We are a paperless practice using the EMIS clinical
system. We offer ten minute appointment times and
telephone access. There is a wide range of practice
nurse led health promotion and chronic disease
management clinics. We have an IT specialist to run
our audit programme and maintain our practice
intranet and computer systems. We are also actively
involved in research, being a MRC practice and
member of SAND.
The Training
The practice has been involved in GP Registrar
training for more than 15 years. Our team is
committed to providing a supportive learning
environment in order to ensure that the registrar
year is stimulating, enjoyable, challenging and
personally rewarding. We actively welcome Registrars
as we gain immense stimulation and satisfaction from
working with the next generation of GP's
Dr David Chittick, the lead trainer, has recently
completed a diploma in counselling skills with
Concern Counselling.
All doctors have an interest in or recently
completed training and are willing to help with any
audits, video consultation skills and preparation
for the nMRCGP examinations. The practice holds
weekly clinical and management meetings. The
Registrar will also have regular tutorials with the
Trainer, their own consulting room and access to a
well stocked library and audiovisual equipment.
