Profile
General Information
The practice is one of two practicing from a purpose
built surgery in the centre of Ipswich. We have a
large car park to which the registrar can have a
key, very useful for shopping at the weekend!
We are a small friendly team, who work together to
try and provide high quality healthcare, confirmed
by high QOF points, and will provide a registrar
with a good width of experience whilst in a very
supportive environment . We are also a training
practice for F2 doctors.
We do not do much home visiting, encouraging
attendance at surgery where at all possible, as a
better use of resources, and have close links with
our district nursing team who are based in the
health centre.
We are paperlight using the EMIS LV system, and all
of our 4600 records are summarised (well except for
about 30),
We believe that providing quality care is important
but that we must also look after ourselves and
ensure that the balance between work and home is
suitable.
We will provide both protected time for formal
teaching, but also believe in talking to you
whenever you want, and run an open door policy for
all of our team.
Dr Benjamin Solway - became a GP in 1995 and
therefore has seen one new contract. Ben is not a
trained GP trainer, but enjoys teaching new GPs. He
feels that life is more important than work,
enjoying Skiing, diving, travel and playing tennis
badly, but hates DIY. Ben has a wife and 3 children
and has lived in Ipswich for over 10 years.
We are ably supported by Jo Whight, our practice
nurse, Collette Fisher our practice manager, and our
team of receptionists, secretary and health care
assistants.
Our training ethos is that training teaches us as
much as the registrar, and that we will work
together to develop a training package which enables
you to reach your potential.
We have 2 weekly formal tutorials on mutually agreed
subjects, as well as daily discussions about cases
and other issues which arise. The Registrar is
expected to attend the practice business and
clinical meetings where possible, (including those
with the accountants), so that they can learn as
much as possible about the business side of general
practice, useful even if only to confirm you want
nothing to do with it.
Sounds Interesting? Come and join our
team.
